Tehelka victim disposes in Goa
Panaji, Nov 27: The young journalist who has accused Tehelka editor-in-chief Tarun Tejpal of sexually assaulting her at a hotel in Goa during the THiNK festival earlier this month, appeared before a judicial magistrate in Goa to dispose.

Police sources said the woman was secretly flown to Goa and taken to a trial court complex in Panaji, where her statement was recorded before a judicial magistrate first class (JMFC) in 'B' Court under section 164 of the Criminal Procedure Code.

Investigating officer Sunita Sawant accompanied the victim from Mumbai.

The Goa police had on November 22 lodged an FIR against Tejpal under IPC sections 376 (rape), 376 (2)(k) (rape by a person of a woman in his custody taking advantage of his official position) and 354 (outraging modesty) in connection with the incident.

Following the incident, the journalist had resigned from Tehelka, accusing Tejpal and Managing Editor Shoma Chaudhary of a "cover-up" and resorting to "tactics of intimidation, character assassination and slander".
