Noida, April 15: Two days after the gruesome murder of Ankit Chauhan in broad daylight in Noida, police on Wednesday, April 15 informed that they have detained one of his family members in connection with the case.
27-year-old Ankit was shot dead while he was on his way back to home. He had gone to meet his wife at her office at sector 135. By the time he reached sector 67, one white sedan overtook Ankit's Toyota Fortuner SUV and fired at him.
The incident took place around 4 pm. Police informed that Ankit was speaking with one his family members and he also informed the person that someone was following his car.
Police officer was quoted as saying, "He was on the phone all the way till the (assailants') car overtook their car and began firing."
The investigating officers also checked CCTV footage and said, "The car can be seen in the footage. It keeps its distance from Chauhan's vehicle."
"It is clearly a premeditated murder and we can completely rule out any question of it being an incident of road rage. He had also called his family and said that he was being followed," the added.
Earlier the cops had mentioned, "This seems like a premeditated killing because of a personal enmity."
"...We have been speaking to the family of the victim, as well as the friend who was in the car. At present the family is traumatized and is not in position to speak," cops added.
Ankit recently got married to Amisha who is also a software engineer working with Accenture. While Ankit's father works with a developer in Meerut, Amisha's father is a director at SD College in Muzaffarnagar.
