Chennai, Feb 24: The mysterious death of a 24-year old woman techie has been handed over to the state crime branch-CID by the government. After TCS employee Uma Maheshwari went missing on February 13, police found her decomposed body yesterday close to her office at the SIPCOT IT Park at Siruseri on the outskirts of Chennai.

A native of Salem, Maheshwari's case is said to be investigating at a snail's pace. "Although the woman's father had given a complaint a week ago, the body was recovered only a week later though it remained very close to her office. We feel he could have been more active and we don't want this kind of a delay in future in other cases," Range Deputy Inspector General of Police, Sathiamoorthy said.

An inspector has been suspended in this context.

Meanwhile, the police has formed six teams to investigate the case. An unmaned aerial machine will also be deployed to gather further evidence, say police sources who claim that they are probing all angles. However, murder cannot be ruled out as there were several stab injuries on her body. Police suspect that it is something to do with the Valentine's Day as she was missing during the Valentine's week.

TCS has released a statement, certifying the conduct of the victim, saying that she was a good team player and was liked by all. "She was reliable and dependible," they further said.
