After defence minister Manohar Parrikar resigned and headed to Goa as chief minister, speculations of Rajnath Singh heading to UP became louder. Rajnath Singh's name started doing rounds as next CM of UP as BJP won a huge mandate and would not want to hand over such an important state to someone who doesn't have experience. Also the party would want a candidate who can take along all the communities.
Rajnath Singh has been the CM of UP from October 28, 2000 to March 8, 2002. The BJP has been considering various names for CM of UP including BJP state chief Keshav Prasad Maurya, Manoj Sinha, Yogi Adityanath and Mahesh Sharma. The party is to decide on the candidate on Wednesday.
