'Swachh Bharat' shocker! No toilet at govt school in PM Modi, Gujarat CM's home town
New Delhi, Feb 27: This will definitely embarrass Prime Minister Narendra Modi who always emphasises on Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. It has been revealed that there is no toilet in the government schools of Modi's hometown Vadnagar, Gujarat.
At the same time, government schools in Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel's hometown Vijapur also don't have toilets.
This shocking info was made by state education minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasama when he was asked to reveal details about the same in State Assembly.
Expecting that BJP Minister will reply him, MLA Prahald Patel asked, "How many government schools in Mehsana district don't have boys or girls' toilets and what action government has taken so far to address the issue."
In a written response Chudasama said, "Vijapur and Vadnagar schools don't have boys or girls' toilets."
According to TOI report, In 2016-17, Gujarat Government allocated Rs 780 crore for the construction of seven lakh toilets.
As per 2012 baseline survey total 33,21,047 houses do not have toilets in Gujarat. As per official figure, total 6,48,981 toilets were constructed till June, 2015, while 26,72,066 toilets are yet to be constructed in the State.
Shocking thing is a total of 14,291 families are without toilets in Anandiben and Prime Minister Modi's own home district Mehsana.
