New Delhi, Nov 27: Lieutenant-Governor Najeeb Jung on Wednesday suspended five officials after finding them responsible for not implementing Swachh Bharat Abhiyan in satisfactory manner.

Jung took this hard decision, while he was on the surprise visit to eight hospitals and 20 schools in the national capital, to check the stock of the situation.

Reports says that LG announced that such visit will now be a weekly affair and anyone found lacking on the front, will have to face the consequences.

While on their round to schools, Jung and his team of officials even appreciated one of the school at East Park Road for their effort to make the mission successful.

According to a Deccan Herald report, the principal of Sarvodaya Vidyalaya, Sector 6, Rohini was ordered to be transferred, while principals of Sarvodaya Kanya Vidyalaya, JJ Colony, Wazirpur, and principal of Sarvodaya Bal Vidyalaya, Rani Jhansi Road, were suspended.

The revenue department's Shahdara North deputy commissioner was also ordered to be suspended. Two Public Works Department assistant engineers - in-charge of maintenance of Sarvodaya Kanya Vidyalaya, Bharat Nagar, and Sarvodaya Vidyalayas, Sector 6, Rohini, - were suspended.

Earlier, on November 21, buoyed by the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a case was registered against five persons for allegedly throwing garbage and littering in public place in Basti district of the Uttar Pradesh.

The case was registered under sections 269 (Negligent act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life) and 270 (Malignant act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life) of the IPC against five persons residing on 'Nyay marg', Superintendent of Police G P Srivastava said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had launched "Swachh Bharat" mission on October 2 on the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi's birth anniversary. Wielding the broom, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on that day had asserted that the mission is "beyond politics" and inspired by patriotism.

Debunking criticism that his Government has been taking credit for every achievement, Modi acknowledged the efforts of all previous governments to make India clean.

"I am not talking politics...this is beyond politics. "This is inspired by patriotism not politcs. We do not have to do with an eye on politics...I say that with a clean heart... "If we paint this again with a brush of politics, we will again do a disservice to mother India.
