This move is being seen as an attempt to counter the growing influence of other communities in the region. According to media reports, Shiv Sena State president who believes that increasing the Hindu population is need to the hour, also announced to launch an agitation against family planning by Hindus.
Shiv Sena's State president Anil Singh has been quoted by The Sunday Express as saying that a programme will be held in end-November to reward these families with a certificate having message: "Rashtra hit me Hinduon ki jansankhya badhane ke liye (Increase the population of Hindus in the interest of the nation).
Singh reportedly said that while Hindus are going for family planning, other communities are increasing their population. He urged the majority community to increase their family size, citing it necessary to sustain their social fabric as a majority.
Singh also alleged that the Uttar Pradesh Health Minister has deliberately launched a campaign to vasectomised Hindu men. He said it was a big conspiracy against Hindu men. Singh also made it clear that his statements are personal and it has nothing to do with Shiv Sena.
