New Delhi, Jan 15: Shashi Tharoor's close associates, whose statements are considered very crucial, have been questioned by Delhi Police in connection with Sunanda Pushkar murder case. The investigating cops grilled four people on Wednesday, Jan 14.
Police interrogated the former Personal Security Officer of Shashi Tharoor and his family friend Dr Sanjay Dewan who is the Consul General for Cape Verde. [Sunanda was injected by someone she knew well]
According to police sources, Tharoor's former security officer was asked about the details of the former union minister's movements in the days leading up to Sunanda's death.
Dr Dewan was asked the reason(s) following which he had cancelled his Mumbai trip and went to meet Sunanda at the hotel where she was found dead. Dr Dewan was grilled for at least seven hours, informed cops.
Earlier it was reported that Dr Dewan was present at the South Delhi hotel on Jan 17, 2014 when Sunanda was found dead. He had gone to meet Sunanda but could not meet her as she was asleep. Later he followed Tharoor's instruction and called doctor who declared Sunanda dead.
Sunanda was found dead days after a spat on social media with a Pakistani journalist Mehr Tarar whom she accused of having an affair with her husband. Recently, Delhi Police filed a case of murder against an unknown person.
Delhi Police soon will question Tharoor in connection with the case. They said they have been collecting proofs before questioning the union minister.
Earlier the cops said that someone, who was well known to Sunanda Pushkar, could have injected the poison into her body leading to her death. It is a clear case of poisoned to death and all we need to find out is what was the motive behind this murder, the officer also added.
