Mumbai, Sept 4: Amit Shah's first visit to Mumbai as BJP president has reportedly strained the party's relationship with its ally in Maharashtra, Shiv Sena.

An Asian Age report says that Shiv Sena, annoyed after Shah snubbed the party's invite to meet Uddhav Thackeray, 'warned' BJP in a viral picture message on Whatsapp - "Be wise. Do not forget that this is Balasaheb's Maharashtra". Along with the message is a picture of Rajnath Singh bowing before late Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray.

Reportedly, Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut had met Shah in Delhi on Tuesday and invited him to meet the Uddhav Thackeray. However, the invite wasn't accepted. Shah asked Raut to discuss the matter with state BJP president. Later, Sena announced that Thackeray will address a press meet today and interestingly, the timing of the meet clashes with Shah's meeting with BJP workers.

Amit Shah is scheduled to attend a lunch hosted by BJP MP Poonam Mahajan and also, he will visit three Ganesh Pandals in the city.

The BJP leaders have denied any rift, with Shiv Sena.
