Steel Bridge Yake Beda: Budding filmmakers make 280 short films to protest against steel flyover
Around 280 short films were made by filmmakers as a part of a short movie contest-- Steel Bridge Yake Beda (Why the steel bridge is not needed).
Bengaluru, Nov 11: Budding filmmakers of Bengaluru have joined hands to protest against the proposed steel flyover project in the city.
The pet project of Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has received severe flak from opposition BJP and citizens' groups.
The opponents of the flyover allege that massive corruption is involved in the project.
Moreover, the construction of the flyover will lead to the massive felling of trees to make way for the project.
Around 280 short films were made by filmmakers as a part of a short movie contest-- Steel Bridge Yake Beda (Why the steel bridge is not needed)--the idea of which was mooted by award-winning Kannada director Pawan Kumar.
He had announced the contest on November 1.
Now, Kumar is planning to screen around 25 of them, all of which are of one-minute duration.
For more than a month now, the city has witnessed several protest marches, led by civil society groups, against the controversial flyover.
The campaign against the flyover--#SteelFyloverBeda (Say no to steel flyover)--was kick-started on social media.
