The pilot made a precautionary landing in Kolkata after he was informed that the aircraft with 204 passengers and seven crew members on board, 'dropped' one of its tyres while taking off from Bengaluru on Tuesday.
Fortunately the aircraft dropped was from the rear landing gear which has two sets each of as many tyres (one under each wing) and was able to land safely with one tyre less, reported the Times of India.
The debris of tyre was noticed by the maintenance personnel at the Bengaluru runway who later informed the ATC.
"One of the rear tyres fell off or burst while our aircraft was taking off from Bengaluru. The pilot landed the aircraft safely at the destination and all passengers have disembarked safely," said SpiceJet spokesman.
A probe has been ordered in the matter.
