SP pops a surprise: To support BJP if role in Guj riots confessed

Azam Khan
Lucknow, Feb 28: SP's controversial Parliamentary Affairs minister and SP Leader Azam Khan has popped up an unexpected surprise for the BJP. In a press conference, he said that the party will support BJP if the latter owned up for the 2002 Gujarat riots.

Nothing more than a play of words, the condition is a well orchestrated political play of power and words. The tiff between the SP and the BJP is not unfamiliar to the political fraternity, especially with the onset of elections.

In a political rally, Mulayam had blown the election bugle, saying that it was a direct fight between the SP and the BSP. Harping on the Gujarat riots, SP has been trying to get an edge on the BJP in UP as the crowd seems to have shifted to the latter.

Meanwhile, in response to Azam Khan's allegations cum proposal, BJP President Rajnath Singh said,"we will apologise if any of the allegations by the opposition regarding the 2002 riots are correct. However, it has to be proved."
