With the Central Bureau of Investigation finding similarities in the murders of Govind Pansare, Narendra Dabholkar and M M Kalaburgi, the Karantaka CID hopes to get custody of prime accused, Virendra Tawde. There are several similarities in the murders of the three rationalists.
For one, all the murders took place in the early hours of the day. The modus operandi too was similar and the assailants were bike borne. Moreover the motive behind the murders were also similar as they did not approve of their comments on superstition among other issues.
The Karnataka CID probing the murder of Kalaburgi says that the motive was similar in all three cases. Even in the murder of Kalaburgi the killers came on a bike in the early hours of the days. The CBI which is probing Virendra Tawde has also learnt that it was the same bike which was used in the murders of both Pansare and Dabholkar.
The Karnataka CID however points out that they are not sure if the same persons and the bike was also used in the murder of Kalaburgi. We will seek his custody soon, an official with the CID informed OneIndia. The CID however says that it is the same group which is involved in all three murders.
Meanwhile the CBI has learnt that it was a Hero Honda Splendor bike which was used in the murders of Pansare and Dabholkar. It was Tawde who handed over the bike to the killers, the CBI has further learnt.
