Sheena murder: Driver unravels the events of the ill-fated day

Mumbai, Aug 28: The Sheena Bora murder mystery is gradually taking shape as the driver reveals the plan that day. While investigating the case, police found her photo in the residence of Indrani's driver Shyam Manav Manohar Rai, 43. Police said that this was a very strong piece of evidence in the investigation.

In his confession, Rai gave a detailed report on what happened that day, who planned the murder and who executed it? Rai says that the murder was plotted by Indrani, who had taken Rai to survey the site near Gagode village in Pen Tehsil of Raigad district on April 23, 2012, a day before the planned date of murder. The murder was executed by Khanna.

The driver revealed that Indrani had called Khanna the night before and had booked a room at hotel Hilltop in Worli. Khanna arrived in Mumbai the next day and had put up at the hotel.

Around 7 pm, Indrani and Sanjeev went to Bandra and stopped their car near the National College on Linking Road, close to the Jockey exclusive shop, waiting for Sheena. Rai said that Sheena was strangulated by Khanna and with the help of Indrani, the body was put in a bag, which was to stay in the car boot for the day. However, when was she strangulated is still not clear.

Rai then drove the car to the secluded forest near Gagode village where the bag was burnt with petrol. The body was completely burnt by 4 am on April 25 and the trio left only when Indrani and Khanna were assured that the contents of the bag was charred and that there were no evidences left behind.

The Mumbai police now recommends that Rai be made an approver.
