Mumbai, Aug 27: In yet another sensation revelation in the high-profile Sheena Bora murder case, Sanjeev Khanna has now told investigators that he was present in the car when Sheena was kidnapped but he slept later.
"I was in the car when Sheena Bora was kidnapped but later dozed off," Sanjeev Khanna, former husband of Indrani Mukerjea, told investigators.
Several twists and turns have already complicated the mysterious murder case. Now, it has been reported that Sheena's body was kept in a car which was parked at Peter Mukerjea's garage.
A Mumbai court on Thursday granted Mumbai Police a five-day transit remand of Sanjeev Khanna for his alleged involvement in Sheena's kidnapping and murder.
Kolkata businessman Khanna was arrested by Mumbai Police on Wednesday, a day after Indrani was nabbed in Mumbai for the murder of Sheena.
Wife of former media baron Peter Mukherjea, Indrani has been booked on charges of killing Sheena in 2012 and disposing off her body.
Rejecting Khanna's bail plea, the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Alipore, granted the police plea for transit remand and directed them to present Khanna before a Mumbai court by September 1.
Pressing for Khanna's bail, his counsel pleaded that he was an established businessman and would not abscond and would cooperate with the police in the investigation.
The prosecution opposed the bail claiming Khanna was involved in the murder.
