Mumbai, Dec 1: Now, the landlord of the house, which was taken on rent by Sheena Bora and Rahul Mukerjea, spoke out about the sensational murder case.
The landlord, who was not keen to reveal his identity, had informed Mumbai Police that the signature used on a letter did not match with her original signature.
Sheena allegedly sent the letter requesting the landlord to cancel the lease agreement which was made when Sheena and her boyfriend had taken the 1 BHK flast in Andheri on rent.
Media reports quoted the landlord as saying, "Rahul told us he was moving out and that Sheena was missing. Suspicious of the whole thing, we sent an email to Sheena, asking her to fax us a letter for discontinuing the agreement."
"A letter purportedly signed by her reached us in mid-July but that signature did not match her previous signatures on cheques she gave us. We informed local police. I don't recall there being any follow up," he added.
Continuing his statement, he also stated, "We demanded all those formalities to be ticked was because a huge sum was involved. The letter, with Sheena's signature, had ‘her consent' for us to return Rs 70,000 to Rahul, which was their deposit money."
The landlord's statement may create more trouble for Indrani Mukerjea as recently it was reported that she allegedly had asked her Personal Assistant (PA) to sign the letter.
23-year-old Sheena was Indrani's daughter from her previous marriage with Siddharth Das. Indrani later got married to former media baron Peter Mukerjea. She, however, did not reveal Sheena's real identity to Peter and his family.
Sheena and Indrani's relationship turned bitter when the former fell in love with Rahul Mukerjea, who is Peter Mukerjea's son from his previous marriage.
It has been alleged that Indrani killed Sheena and disposed of her body in a jungle in Raigadh near Mumbai. Now, Indrani, her two aides and Peter have been arrested and were sent to judicial custody.
