Mumbai, Oct 13: The Central Bureau of Investigating (CBI) officers, who are investigating the Sheena Bora murder case, did not want to take any risk. Hence, they sent a letter to Maharashtra government regarding Indrani Mukerjea's security in Mumbai jail.
Indrani Mukerjea, who was sent to judicial custody, is the main accused in Sheena Bora murder case. Recently, she was rushed to hospital as her health condition deteriorated.
The CBI officers sent a letter to Maharashtra government asking it to increase Indrani's security inside jail. The letter was written by joint director, special crime wing, New Delhi.
In its letter, CBI wrote, "The state government must give appropriate security to Indrani Mukerjea during her judicial custody."
Indrani fell unconscious on Oct 2 and she was admitted to JJ Hospital in Mumbai. Her condition was serious and it was suspected to be a case of drug overdose. However, later it was declared that she was not a victim of drug overdose.
Indrani was arrested by Mumbai Police in Aug 2015. She along with her former husband and driver has been accused of killing Sheena Bora.
Sheena was Indrani's daughter from her first marriage with Siddharth Das. Indrani later married Peter Mukerjea, the former CEO of Star India. After getting married to Peter, Indrani introduced Sheena as her sister.
It was suspected that Sheena might have threatened Indrani to expose her before Peter. Hence, Indrani might have killed her. However, the exact motive behind the murder has not been revealed yet.
