Mumbai, Sept 2: Almost ten days after her arrest, it has been reported that Indrani Mukerjea confessed to her crime. According to Mumbai Police sources, Indrani for the first time has admitted to murdering Sheena Bora.
Mumbai Police officials including Mumbai Police Commissioner Rakesh Maria interrogated Indrani, who is the mother of Sheena.
Hours after the reports about Indrani's confession, it has also been reported that Indrani might have killed Sheena for Rs 150 crore.
The huge amount of money was parked at Sheena's bank account. It was a part of Rs 450 to Rs 500 crore which Indrani and her husband Peter Mukerjea had acquired after selling their stakes in INX Media in 2008-2009.
Media reports quoted an investigating officer as saying, "The sale of channels had reportedly fetched the Mukerjeas roughly around Rs 450 to Rs 500 crore, of which Indrani had allegedly parked Rs150 crore with Sheena for safekeeping."
"Sheena was aware of the money in her account and so she later refused to part with the money. We are probing if this was the reason which led to her murder," he added.
Indrani along with her driver Shyam Rai and former husband Sanjeev Khanna allegedly killed Sheena and disposed off her body in a jungle in Raigad, near Mumbai in 2012.
Sheena was Indrani's daughter from her first marriage with Siddharth Das, who is now based in Kolkata.
Three years after Sheena's murder, Mumbai Police received an anonymous phone call and trapped Indrani and her accomplices.
