Mumbai, Sep 7: In a major success to the Mumbai Police, in connection with Sheena Bora murder case, DNA test of the skull and bones, discovered days ago in the forests of Raigad, have confirmed it was her, claims Mumbai Police.
TV reports are claiming that the cops have confirmed that the body parts it had recovered were Indrani Mukerjea's daughter Sheena's.
Police, on Aug 28, had exhumed a skull and other parts of a corpse that they claimed to have been Sheena. The DNA test results now have ascertained their claims and will make their case stronger.
Indrani, her former husband Sanjeev Khanna and her former driver Shyamvar Rai have been arrested on the charge of murdering Sheena and disposing of the body in a Raigad forest in April 2012.
Earlier on Friday, the Mumbai police said that digital superimposition of the profile of Sheena Bora matched with the skull recovered from a forest in the neighbouring Raigad district.
"Digital superimposition of Sheena's profile has matched with the skull found in Raigad forest," a senior officer of Mumbai police then said.
A Mumbai court on Monday sent Indrani Mukherjea and her former driver Shyamvar Rai, both prime accused in Sheena Bora's murder, to judicial custody for 14 days.
The third co-accused, Sanjeev Khanna, will be taken to Kolkata for further investigation, informed sources said.
The three were produced before the Bandra magistrate's court at the end of their police custody on Monday. Mukherjea, mother of Sheena Bora, and the former driver were remanded to judicial custody till Sep 21.
