Answering questions why he did not file defamation case against the law intern who accused him of sexually assaulting her, Ganguly said, "I will never do anything against someone who was my student. I would rather go to jail."
Ganguly also expressed his wrath against West Bengal government-led by Mamata Banerjee. During the interview with the channel, he said, "I have been very badly and unfairly treated by the Supreme Court. I was not given a fair chance by the Supreme Court panel."

Ganguly also shocked and surprised many as he defended the law inter. Speaking about the complainant, Ganguly added, "The intern never complained to the SC, then why was a panel formed? I appeared before the court in good faith."

Ganguly spoke to the TV channel a day after his resignation as the chief of West Bengal Human Rights Commission (WBHRC). Ganguly initially refused to resign from the post. However, he changed his decision and finally submitted his resignation.
Ganguly has been accused of taking sexual advantage of a young law intern inside a hotel room in Delhi. The complainant disclosed her part of story while a writing blog. Instead of filing legal case against Ganguly, she expressed her wrath in the blog where she informed that the incident took place when the country was protesting against infamous Dec 16 gangrape in the national capital.
