Sexual Assault: More trouble for Asaram, absconding aides surrender
Asaram's two aides have been identified as Prakash and Sharad Chandra. While the former was a cook at a hostel of the ashram run by Asaram at Chhindwara in Madhya Pradesh, the latter was in-charge of the hostel. The 16-year-old girl, who filed sexual assault case against the spiritual guru, stayed in the hostel to pursue her study.
Speaking about charges hurled against Prakash and Sharad, Rajasthan Police officer was quoted as saying, "Prakash and Sharad were accused of being involved in the conspiracy of the sexual assault on the 16-year-old girl at Asaram's ashram near Jodhpur Aug 15. They were being searched for."
The duo were accused of being involved in the conspiracy of the sexual assault
Continuing his statement, the officer also informed, "After their surrender, they have been placed in police custody. They will be questioned by the police."
The former personal assistant of Asaram recently said that he was aware of wrongdoings by father-son duo. In an interview to ABP news, Mahendra Chawla, who served as Asaram's PA for four years (from 2001 to 2005), told that Asaram used to select girls by throwing fruits or prasad at them or even by pointing torch light at them.
In startling revelations, Chawla also said that Asaram is addicted to opium drug and an NRI used to supply opium to him. However, Narayan Sai, Asaram's son, had confidently denied drug allegations against his father.
The septuagenarian was arrested from his ashram in Indore. Currently he has been lodged in Central Jail in Jodhpur. He has been sent to judicial custody till Sept 30. He allegedly had assaulted the minor girl in his ashram near Jodhpur on Aug 15.
