Ram Jethmalani and Asaram Bapu
Jodhpur, Sept 16: The last hope of self-proclaimed godman Asaram Bapu, who landed in legal trouble in connection with sexual assault case, seems to have gone in vain. The senior Supreme Court advocate Ram Jethmalani too failed to get him bail.

Jethmalani on Monday, Sept 16 moved the Rajasthan High Court seeking bail for Asaram whom a local court in Jodhpur denied bail earlier. Judicial custody of the spiritual leader has been extended till Sept 30. However, the high court said that it would hear Asaram's plea again on Sept 18.

Next hearing in high court on Sept 18

72-year-old Asaram was arrested in connection with a sexual assault case in which he was accused of sexually assaulting a 16-year-old minor girl in his ashram near Jodhpur, Rajasthan.

Meanwhile, counsel for the girl, who was allegedly sexually exploited by Asaram Bapu, on Sunday claimed to have received threats from followers of the self-styled godman. Lawyer of the victim, Manish Vyas, claimed that the threat was issued to a friend of the victim's father asking him to withdraw the statements of her daughter against Asaram.
