Serving colonel under CBI lens in disproportionate assets case
A serving colonel and his wife have been booked by the Central Bureau of Investigation for allegedly possessing disproportionate assets. The CBI's anti corruption bureau says that the assets found were to the tune of Rs 1 crore.
In the FIR filed, the CBI says that the officer had earned the assets between 2008 and 2017. He was posted in Pune, Jammu and Rajasthan. He is currently posted with the 516 Army Service Corps (ASC), Battalion 16, which is attached with the Southern Western Command of Army.
The officer served as a catering officer at the National Defence Academy and was then transferred to Jammu. The CBI got information about the officer and his wife's expenditure and savings apart from the assets owned by them. The CBI has found multiple bank accounts in their names.
The CBI says that the investigation is at a very early state. The probe is still on and searches are being conducted in various places. The CBI team would also conduct a search in Haryana before furthering the probe.
