Security beefed up ahead of Narendra Modi's visit to Chhattisgarh, WB
Dantewada/ Kolkata, May 9: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be visiting Chhattisgarh and West Bengal today. While in Kolkata, Modi will launch three social security schemes.
Meanwhile, security has been beefed up in both the states ahead of the Prime Minister's visit. In Kolkata, Modi will be under the security cover of the Kolkata Police as well as the SPG.
Close to 15,000 cops have been deployed for Modi's Kolkata visit.
On the other hand, Modi will be visiting Naxal-affected Dantewada district. This will be Modi's first visit to the region as the PM. Ahead of his visit there, maoists had called for a boycott of the event and even blocked roads in Kanker district.
Maoists protested against Modi's visit and even burnt effigies of him and chief minister Raman Singh. The state Congress also protested against Modi's visit. Meanwhile, Modi's visit to Naya Raipur was cancelled after the stage collapsed due to a heavy storm.
Modi will be inaugurating two projects in the state. Modi tweeted about his visit to both the states:
