Security alert at IG Airport following anonymous phone call
An anonymous caller rang up the airline Spicejet at around 17.30 hours and told the staff that there was a bomb threat at the airport, CISF sources said.
CISF personnel, the bomb squad and Delhi police immediately launched searches at both Terminals 1-D (domestic) and T-3 (international) as also for unclaimed baggages. Nothing was found after the searches by CISF and other agencies, the sources said, adding it was suspected to be a 'hoax call'.
They said the threat assessment committee, generally set up on receipt of a 'specific threat', was also not set up.
In security parlance, specific threats are those which are least common or unusual and considered most crediblewhile non-specific threat are simple statements like a bomb has been placed and do not give any further information.
