Temperature in Srinagar dipped to minus 2.7 degrees Celsius last night, making it the coldest night of the season in the capital of nation's northern most state.
Jammu/Srinagar, Nov 17: Temperature in Srinagar dipped to minus 2.7 degrees Celsius last night, making it the coldest night of the season in the capital of nation's northern most state.
Chill prevailed even in other parts of the state as Bannihal town in Jammu region regitered 2.5 degrees.
"At minus 2.7 degrees Celsius, Srinagar recorded the coldest night temperatu re of this season so far. The minimum temperature was minus 4.0 in Pahalgam and minus 0.6 in Gulmarg today (Thursday)," an official of the MET department told IANS.
"Leh was, however, the coldest town in Jammu and Kashmir where the night temperature dropped to minus 7.8 degrees Celsius."
"In the Jammu region, Jammu city recorded 9.3, Katra town 11.3, Batote 7.7, Bannihal 2.5 and Bhaderwah 3.0 degrees Celsius as the minimum temperatures on Thursday," the official added.
The present cold and dry weather conditions would continue in the state during the next 48 hours.
