Three operatives of the Islamic State are trying to get into the city of Mumbai by sea, an Intelligence Bureau alert has stated. The alert states that the terrorists are trying to sneak in through sea and may try and target the city which has been under attack several times in the past.

The Mumbai police have been alerted about the same and all security arrangements are in place. It is, however, unclear about the exact modus operandi of the terrorists. They may try and stage an attack or meet up with sympathisers i a bid to set up a module.

Sea-borne attacks are not new to Mumbai. It may be recalled that the ten terrorists of the Lashkar-e-Tayiba had gained entry into Mumbai through the sea before carrying out the dreaded 26/11 attack. Following this coastal security had been stepped up.

Maharashtra is also not new to the problem of the IS. It may be recalled that four youth from the state had left for Iraq to be part of the IS. One of them, Areeb Majeed however returned after he complained that he was told to do menial jobs such as cleaning toilets in the Hind camp in Iraq.

Following this alert, the police are taking nothing to chance. All security measures have been put in place and a high alert was also declared. The coastal security mechanism too has been updated about the same.
