SC agrees to hear Babri case early
The Supreme Court has agreed to hear the Babri Masjid dispute case early. BJP leader Subramanian Swamy sought an urgent hearing of his petition. His plea has been tagged along with the main petition.
A Bench comprising Chief Justice of India, J S Khehar and Justice D Y Chandrachud said that they would list the main matter soon. We will take a decision on it the Bench said while agreeing to hear the matter early.
The matter in question pertains to to the dispute over ownership of the 2.7 acre Babri Masjid- Ram Janmabhoomi land. It was pointed out to the Bench that the matter had been pending since 2010 in the Supreme Court. An appeal was filed following the verdict of the Allahabad High Court. The matter has been pending since then, the Bench was told.
