The Sasikala Natarajan faction of the AIADMK submitted its reply on the symbol row to the Election commission on Tuesday. The EC has sought a reply after former chief minister O Panneerselvam had staked claim to the party's two leaves symbol for the upcoming bypoll in R K Nagar.
In their reply to the EC, the Sasikala camp has countered Panneerselvam's claim to the symbol. Affidavits claiming support of 1912 general council members has also been attached to the reply.
The EC is expected to give its verdict on the symbol row on Wednesday with the last date for filing nominations being March 23. Panneerselvam in his petition had attached signatures of close to 4 lakh 'cadres' to show that his faction was the original AIADMK and deserved to fight elections under the two leaves symbol.
