Kolkata, Nov 27: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) will question Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Shankudeb Panda in connection with the Saradha scam today.
He was last year questioned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for nearly three hours.
The journalist-turned-politician, who is currently general secretary of the state unit, will be questioned about his alleged involvement with certain firms that had made some financial dealings with Saradha Group.
CBI officials informed OneIndia that they will be questioning many more persons before they could file their final report in the Saradha scam.
The money trail is what the CBI has been trying to crack with the help of the Enforcement Directorate.
It is a voluminous case and we hope to complete our investigation by January, the CBI official also added.
The officer further stated that they may question two sitting MPs of the TMC and also a minister in West Bengal over the next couple of days.
Meanwhile, the CBI is also contemplating shifting Madan Mitra out of the jail in West Bengal.
He has been a problematic prisoner and the CBI had to fight it out in the Calcutta High Court to get his bail cancelled.
Even when Mitra was in jail prior to him being granted bail, he had spent a considerable amount of time in hospital.
The CBI suspects that being an influential person he is getting unwanted benefits in West Bengal.
The jail authorities are under the control of the West Bengal government and not the CBI and hence the agency would want to shift Mitra out of the state.
