Sankararaman murder case: How it unfolded
The seers were charged with with criminal conspiracy, misleading the court by giving false information, criminal trespass and supply of funds to carry out the criminal activity.

In 2004
3 September: A man named Sankararaman was found murdered in Kanchipuram in tamil nadu,. He was an employee at a Sri Varadharajaswamy temple,.

arrested
in
Andhra
pradesh
in
relation
with
the
case.
Police alleged that Sankararaman was murdered by at the instance of Jayendra Sarawati against whom Sankararaman had levelled charges of financial mismanagement.
17 November: Actual assailant Ambigapathy surrendered before district magistrate in Alandur
21 November: Knife used for crime recovered.
21 November: Jayendra Saraswati in police custody confesses and as per the information given by him, four documents namely the letters written by the deceased Sankararaman under the guise of Somesekaraganapadigal to Jayendrar along with a telephone directory and a cell phone charger were recovered by the police.
19 December : Another main accused Appu Krishnaswamy arrested and police recovered the receipts of sum paid to him by a man Ravi subrahmaniam at the instance of Jayendra Saraswati for executing the crime.
24 December: Sankara Mutt manager arrested for taking part in the conspiracy.
Arrests evoked nation-wide protests.
In 2005
January 10: The junior seer arrested.
January 10: Jayendra Saraswati granted bail
February 10: Junior seer granted bail
In March, one of the accused M Kathiravan murdered.
Trial began at Puducherry principal court in November 2005 with 187 witnesses.
In 2013
27 November : Court acquits all the accused.
