Amethi, Sept 20: Even as the dispute over his ancestral house refuses to die down, senior Congress MP Sanjay Singh on Sunday appealed to media to avoid publication of "baseless" news items related to his family.

"I appeal to the media not to publish any unauthentic and baseless story related to my family... "As a responsible father and the head of the family I will try my best to solve all the problems, if any," Singh, who was accompanied by his wife Amita, said here. Singh and his second wife Amita are locked in a dispute over the ancestral house 'Bhupati Bhavan' with his son Anant Vikram Singh and first wife Garima.

A constable was killed and six persons injured in a clash which had broken out between police and alleged supporters of Anant Vikram in Ramnagar area here on September 14. According to police, the clash took place as Anant Vikram's supporters gathered outside Bhupati Bhavan after hearing that the MP and Amita were to arrive in Amethi.

Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh minister Gayatri Prasad Prajapati today met locals belonging to villages adjacent to Ramnagar and provided financial aid to those who were injured in the clash.
