Mathura, April 6: Accusing the SP government of delay in distribution of relief funds to the rain and hailstorm affected farmers, BJP on Monday said the state government has "failed" to correctly carry out the assessment of the crop losses on time.

Tearing the SP government in the state anti-farmer, Union Minister of State for Human Resources Development Ramshankar Katheria and Union MoS for Food Processing Industries Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti said the Centre has already released funds for the farmers but the state government has not correctly assessed the crop losses.

Katheria told reporters that the Central government sympathises with the farmers and has asked the state government to provide compensation on basis of the actual report and added that the delay by the SP government is causing suffering for the farmers. Speaking to reporters after visit to the Banke Bihari temple, Jyoti alleged the government officials are carrying out the survey work while sitting at the houses of SP leaders.

Expressing grief over suicides of farmers, she said Centre is ready to provide every help possible to the rain-hit farmers but state government has not sent the report over the crop losses yet to the Union government yet.
