Mumbai, Dec 4: The prosecution cornered Salman Khan in Bombay High Court while reiterating that the Bollywood actor should be sent to jail at least for five years.

During the hearing in Bombay High Court on Thursday, Dec 3, chief public prosecutor and government pleader Sandeep Shinde said, "We have produced credible witnesses to establish that Salman Khan had consumed alcohol at the Rain Bar & Restaurant before going to JW Marriot Hotel. While returning from there, he dashed his vehicle near the A1-Bakery - It was he who is responsible for the mishap."

However, defense lawyer too tried to shield the actor while asserting, "The prosecution has presented false witnesses, which is why most of them turned slippery at some point in the trial."

Despite the lawyers' arguments in the court, prosecution continued to state that trial court was right while proclaiming 5-year-imprisonment to Salman Khan.

The actor may face serious trouble as Bombay High Court Justice AR Joshi, who is hearing Salman's appeal against his conviction and a five-year jail term by the sessions court, is likely to start dictating his order soon.

Salman Khan earlier in May 2015 was convicted for culpable homicide not amounting to murder, besides several other offences, and sentenced to five years jail, against which he filed the present appeal in the Bombay High Court.
