SAD corners Amarinder over Sidhu taking part in 'The Kapil Sharma Show'
Sidhu currently holds the portfolios of local government, tourism and cultural affairs.
The Shiromani Akali Dal on Thursday lashed out at Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh over state minister Navjot Singh Sidhu continuing as a celebrity-judge on a popular TV comedy show.
SAD leader Prem Singh Chandumajra told ANI that Amarinder should stop Sidhu from taking part in The Kapil Sharma Show. He said that Amarinder seemed confused over the matter, adding that the job of a cabinet minister is to work for people 24 hours.
Sidhu currently holds the portfolios of local government, tourism and cultural affairs. He has maintained that his appearing on The Kapil Sharma Show will not interfere with his cabinet responsibilities. Sidhu opines that doing a TV show does not come under the ambit of 'office of profit'.
With questions being raised on Sidhu continuing with the show, Amarinder on Wednesday said cricketer turned politician's portfolio may have to be changed if there is a conflict of interest.
Amarinder, on his part, has sought the opinion of advocate general in this regard.
Meanwhile, Sidhu's wife Navjot Kaur has come out in support of her husband through a Facebook post, saying that the issue was being over-hyped without any reason.
