What's 'cooking' for Narendra Modi in SAARC Summit 2014?

Kathmandu, Nov 27: A simple vegetarian spread it was, but the cooks took due care to make them delecteble for the Indian Premier. Apart from the evident cold current between Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, SAARC Summit had more to offer.

The food spread was customised according to the taste and the choice of the visiting premieres. Pakistan's Nawaz Sharif, for instance, preferred meat and mutton over anything else.


According to the staff of Hotel Crowne Plaza Kathmandu-Soaltee (where the delegates are staying), "For lunch, PM Modi eats jeera rice with dal and two types of vegetables besides tawa roti and vegetable soup. He also takes plain curd and Masala Chaas with his food." For dinner, the PM is said to have khichdi and Gujarati curry, dal and roti and mixed fruit for dessert.

He prefers mixed fruit, utthapam or idli for breakfast, along with tea and digestive biscuits.

Nawaz Sharif, on the other hand, is served rich food which includes halal meats. He has fish in special Pakistani preparation, organic chicken or mutton in lunch and dinner and prefers saffron kheer for dessert.

Narendra Modi is putting up at an exclusive suite in the main building of the hotel, while Pakistani Prime Minister Sharif is staying in a separate bungalow built in the hotel premises.
