RTI activist Baliga murder: A man to watch

Bengaluru, June 8: In the RTI activist Baliga murder, a man to be watched is a devotee of Kashi Math-cum-advocate N Ravindranath Kamath.

It has to be recalled Vinayak Baliga was slayed on March 21 in the morning hours, which now Mangaluru police say alleged Supari killing. However OneIndia's investigation narrowed down the possible reasons for the killing to misappropriation of funds in a temple, Sri Venkataramana located at Car Street, Mangaluru which belongs to the Kashi Math of Goud Saraswat Brahmin (GSB).

At this juncture, the cops are on man hunt for prime suspect Naresh Shenoy in the case, while slew of people have been already enquired and allegedly pointed fingers at Naresh Shenoy.

N Ravindranath Kamath has his own story to tell on Kashi Math and dastardly killing of Baliga. Kamath a learned advocate whose native is Virajpet is appearing for Baliga's father, Ramachandra Baliga in the High Court of Karnataka in a petition filed by accused Naresh Shenoy.

A brief background of Kamath

N.G. Kamath and N. Ravindranath Kamath have appeared for late Veerappan and his associates in several criminal cases. Both have conducted several sensational cases including the famous caste certificate case of Suma Vasanth, a former minister.

Kamath also is an environmentalist. He has done lot of research works on cow protection and on protection of elephants.

He was appointed as member of elephant task force by the High Court of Karnataka. He has given a report to court and he also has delivered a speech in London Parliament.

Kamath won case for Kashi Math's erstwhile seer Sudhindra Theertha

It has to be noted that Ravindranath Kamath is an authority on trust and religious matter. He has conducted many Math related matters up to Supreme Court of India and the recent being the Kashi Math case.

He appeared for Sudhindra Theertha seer the Former Matadhipathy (head) of Kashi Math against Raghavendra Theertha in courts Tirupati, Kadapa, Ernakulam, Hyderabad and Delhi and was successful in getting court decree in favour of seer Sudhindra Theertha and all worshipping deities in possession of Raghavendra Theertha seer was recovered by Mr. Kamath.

Kamath's fight for justice to Baliga

Kamath, who fought to protect the interests of former seer of Kashi Math, is now fighting to bring justice to Baliga. When contacted Kamath, he explained his stance on the case and his subsequent fight.

Kamath says, the recent murder of RTI activist Vinayak Baliga in Mangalore is still fresh in the minds of public. "I have taken the cause of Vinayak Baliga and is appearing for his father Ramachandra Baliga in the petition filed by Naresh Shenoy, the most wanted person in the case for the police, who has applied for anticipatory bail."

Kamath further said, on early hours of 21st March 20016, Vinayak Baliga was murdered near his house in Mangalore. Baliga had raised his voice against alleged misappropriation of funds at Venkataramana Temple and at Kashi Math.

Kamath revealed that Baliga had written a letter to current head of Kashi Math, Samayameandra seer about proposed conference of Sudha Seva Prathistana Trust in Mangalore which later was shifted to Karkala.

A key allegation of Vinayak Baliga on this trust is coterie surrounding Kashi Math who are parties for misappropriation of funds of Kashi Math and Venkataramana Temple. He urged the seer that these people should not be allowed to take part in in the said trust, Kamath explained

The members of the coterie have self-serving interests and dubious plans. Baliga in his letter to the seer elaborated this in length demanding the seer not to nurse the society.

Vinayak Baliga became an obstacle for a group who involved in misappropriation of funds of Venkataramana Temple and Kashi Math.

It is needless to mention here that people belonging to GSB community now have come to know who the culprits are and it is only for police who are in the hunt for Naresh Shenoy to book all the culprits who murdered Vinayak Baliga, making this point, Kamath silently tells why he wants to stand with Baliga's family.
