Rs 92 lakh cash seized from BJP minister's vehicle
The cash was seized on Thursday by the flying squad which on routine rounds. The squad has been set up in the wake of the upcoming civic polls to be held in the state.
New Delhi, Nov 18: The Maharashtra police has seized Rs 91.5 lakh in cash from a private vehicle which allegedly belonged to Solapur-based Lok Mangal group alleged to be under the control of a senior BJP leader and Maharashtra cooperation minister Subhash Deshmukh.
The cash was seized on Thursday by the flying squad which on routine rounds. The squad has been set up in the wake of the upcoming municipal council polls to be held in the state.
According to a report in the Times of India, the cash belonged to the Lok Mangal group. Deshmukh, according to the report also said that the cash was for the payment of workers in the Lok Mangal group.

Osmanabad collector Prashant Narnawarewas said, "we have sought clarification from the group. In addition, we have informed the income tax department. If the group justifies the cash, it will be returned. Else, legal action will be taken as per the provisions of law, " he also said.
Meanwhile the opposition NCP and Congress have demanded dismissal of BJP leader. "Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis should sack Deshmukh immediately and the income tax department must search the official and residential premises of leading BJP politicians", NCP spokesperson Nawab Malik said.
