Rs 111 crore cash seized in AP in poll season so far
Hyderabad, Apr 23: About Rs 111 crore of unaccounted for cash has been seized in Andhra Pradesh so far since the Model Code of Conduct came into force.

This accounts for almost half the cash seized in the whole country, state's chief Electoral Officer Bhanwar Lal said. In Telangana, where polling would be held on April 30, 265 candidates are in the fray for the 17 Lok Sabha seats and 1,669 candidates are in the fray for 119 Assembly segments.

In Seemandhra, where polling is scheduled for May 7, the total number of nominees for 175 assembly constituencies is 2,243 while 333 candidates are in the fray for 24 Lok Sabha constituencies. Today is the last day for withdrawal of nominations in Seemandhra.

The CEO said polling in 11 Assembly seats in Telangana and 10 in Seemandhra which are affected by Maoist extremism would be held from 7 am to 4 pm. Elsehwere, polling would take place from 7 am to 6 pm. There has been no serious instances of violation of poll code so far, he added.
