Row over Karbala land: Delhi's NH 24 jammed for 10 hours
Thousands of protestors (mostly Shia Muslims) lined up to gherao Congress Chaiperson Sonia Gandhi's house. When the police stopped them at the UP border, tempers flew beyond control and the protestors blocked both the sides of the national highway that joined Delhi with Ghaziabad, Indirapuram and Noida.
As traffic piled, people were stuck on the highway for about 10 hours. POlice tried to divert cars and buses from Ghazipur to Chowdhury Charan Singh Marg, but to no use. As a result of the diversion areas like DND, Kalindi Kinj, ITO, Vajirabad bridge, all went into a deadlock.
