Molestation: Shocking incidents where victims could not fight back like Rohtak sisters

Bengaluru, Dec 1: The Rohtak sisters made headlines with their heroic acts. They single-handedly thrashed three persons who molested them inside a moving bus. No one came to their rescue when the three youths molested them.

Video featuring the entire incident has gone viral. The two girls -- Aarti and Pooja were seen thrashing the three youths who have been identified as Kuldeep, Mohit and Deepak. Both the brave girls hit one particular youth with a belt and their hands and legs. The incident took place on Friday, Nov 28.

All passengers, except one pregnant woman, in the bus perfectly played roles of mute spectators. Even the bus driver and the conductor chose to remain silent as the girls were assaulted inside the bus.

This was not the first time when women faced such humiliation while travelling from one place to another. While the Rohtak sisters won over their fear and showed indomitable courage and bravery by opposing their molesters, we have many such instances where women fell prey to the brutality of their assaulters.

Here are a few incidents where women became victim:

Delhi girl thrown out of train in Madhya Pradesh: Two unidentified men allegedly had thrown a girl out of a running train in Madhya Pradesh.The incident took place on Nov 19, 2014.

The two men allegedly had tried to rape her. The girl was travelling Malwa express. The girl was found unconscious near railway tracks, 25km away from Beena railway station in Sagar district.

Girl dies after being raped, pushed off train: Soumya was raped and pushed out a moving train in Kerala in 2011. Later she succumbed to her injuries and died at hospital.

The incident led to agitation and protests and raised serious apprehensions on the safety of women in trains.

Another woman attacked in Kerala train: Hardly a week after a woman was pushed out of a local train and allegedly raped, a 23-year-old man misbehaved with a woman passenger on board the Thiruvananthapuram-Mangalore Express.

The woman was asleep on the top berth late on Sunday night when she felt someone trying to embrace her and screamed for help that woke up other passengers when the train was nearing Ernakulam station, Railway police said.

Kerala origin nun brutally attacked, murdered in Jharkhand: A nun of Kerala origin was attacked and murdered in Jharkhand. The 53-year-old, Valsa John hailed from Kochi in Kerala.

There is widespread speculation that Maoists are behind the attacks. Her brother in Kerala has, however, commented that she faced threats from the mining mafia in the state. On hearing the gruesome death, relatives of the nun have rushed to Jharkhand.

Woman set on fire inside train, dies: A woman was allegedly set afire by a man inside an empty compartment of the Kannur-Ernakulam Executive express in Kerala.

Other passengers noticed the woman the woman who ran out of the compartment screaming in pain. The woman later died in hospital.

However, there are many instances where people, who come forward to help any woman, become victims of the situation.

19-year-old student beaten to death in Hyderabad: A 19-year-old BCom second year student was beaten to death allegedly by his senior when the former objected to eve-teasing of a girl student at a private college in Hyderabad.

Senior police official was quoted as saying, "A scuffle broke out during lunch hour when the accused went inside the victim's classroom and argued with him over the matter before hitting him."

Man loses limbs trying to save girl in Kerala: In a a bid to prevent a girl from being molested, a 28-year-old man lost his limbs.

The incident took place when the man had tried to stop a group from molesting a girl travelling on Malabar Express. However, the group of men who were in an inebriated state, threw the man out of the train.
