The men reportedly assaulted the two sisters, aged 22 and 19, after they protested against the harassment in the bus. The girls, who were returning home after the college examinations, retaliated with their belts. The entire incident, recorded by a passenger on mobile phone, went viral on the media. It also showed that no other passenger in the bus came to the rescue of the two women.
The three accused, identified as Kuldeep, Mohit and Deepak, were arrested on Sunday. A case under Section 354 (assault or criminal force with intent to outrage woman's modesty) and Section 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) of IPC has been registered against them.
Aarti later said the women shouldn't allow others to dominate them and stand up to defend themselves.
