A petition challenging TTV Dinakaran's candidature in the upcoming R K Nagar bypoll was filed in the Madras High court on Tuesday. Joseph, a resident of Arumbakkam in Chennai sought a stay on Sasikala Natarajan's nephew candidature in the April 12 bypoll.
In his petition, Joseph has said pleaded that Dinakaran has been convicted in a FERA case by the enforcement directorate and was fined Rs 25 crore. The petition also highlighted that the Madras High court had confirmed the same and asked TTV Dinakaran to pay the fine. The petitioner asked the court to take cognizance of it and stop him from contesting.
Joseph who is an AIADMK worker had earlier filed a petition seeking probe into Jayalalithaa's death before the Madras high court. The petition deems TTV Dinakaran a convict and ineligible to contest polls. The petition comes two days before TTV Dinakaran is expected to file his nomination for the bypoll. The Sasikala Natarajan faction's candidate had told the media that he would contest under the 'two leaves' symbol of the AIADMK and would file nominations on March 23.
