Republic Day 2016: French troops, Indian Army Dog squad key attractions at Rajpath

New Delhi, Jan 26: 67th Republic Day is being celebrated with fervour in India and on this occasion the Indian Army showcased its power and achievements at Rajpath.

One of the biggest highlights of this Republic Day is that the French President Francolis Hollande graced the occasion Rajpath by being the Chief Guest.

Amidst security threats in country in the wake of Pathankot airbase attack, Hollande visited India. His visit will send a loud and clear message to the terrorists that whole world is united against terrorism.

While talking to OneIndia one of the participants from Indian Air Force (IAF) informed about this year's historic Republic Day celebration and said " This is one of the proud moments for the country as this time a 76-troop-member French Army led by 48 musicians marched on Rajpath and gave a ceremonial salute to the President of India (Pranab Mukerjee).

"All security personnel will also be there to ensure safety and check on the security arrangements, " he further added.

Army dogs marched after 26 years

One of the biggest attraction of this year's Republic Day was the Indian Army Dog squad drawn from the Remount Veterinary Corps (RVC) which participated along with their handlers.

The 66-year-old tradition of the Republic Day celebrations, the colorful BSF Camel Regiment consisting of 56 camels led by Deputy Commandant Kuldeep J Choudhary also marched on the Rajpath.
