Rajya Sabha, Lok Sabha clear backlogs, discuss Lok Pal and A K Ganguly
At around 10:30 am, the Parliament paid its homage to the Parliament Attack heroes and victims of 2001, after observing a 2 minute silence. Following this, both the Houses began their Winter Sessions. While the Lok Sabha is likely to deal with the Telangana issue and the AK Ganguly case, the Rajya Sabha is likely to concentrate on the Jan Lokpal Bill.
Amid slogans to save Telangana, Sushma Swaraj began her reasoning as to why former justice AK Ganguly should step down from his position of the Chairman of the West Bengal Human Rights Commission.
"There has been absolutely no change in the way we have been treating women after the Nirbhaya case. Big shots are no exceptions. We have to show the common man that law is meant for all and anyone-small or big-breaking the law would be punished. It is only that way, we can establish a firm example for the people to remember."
The Rajya Sabha session was in a complete disarray, as expected. The controversial Lok Pal Bill is to be discussed today, but there are no signs of progress in the discussion.
It requires to be seen whether Anna's demands for a decision on the Lok Pal Bill is met or not.
