Amidst chaos, Rajya Sabha adjourned till 2 pm

Rajya Sabha adjourned till 2 pm
New Delhi, Feb 6: The Rajya Sabha was on Thursday disrupted over formation of Telangana and other issues, leading to an adjournment till 2 pm.

After its first adjournment within minutes of assembling, the house witnessed noisy scenes.

Members from Telugu Desam Party (TDP) went near the chairman's podium, raising slogans to save Andhra Pradesh. They were then joined by members from the DMK and the AIADMK demanding steps to protect Tamil fishermen being targeted by the Sri Lankan navy.

Samajwadi Party members then demanded the dismissal of Union Steel Minister Beni Prasad Verma for attempting to "buy off" journalists.

Amid the din, Deputy Chairman P.J. Kurein adjourned the house till 2 pm.

Meanwhile, no business could be transacted except for the routine tabling of papers.
