Rajnath Singh takes stock of flood situation in WB
Kolkata, Aug 2: Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh today spoke to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee over phone and enquired about the flood situation in the state.
According to state secretariat officials, Singh during his conversation with the chief minister discussed the situation in all affected districts. Meanwhile, Banerjee held discussions with district officials of all affected districts through video conference and took reports of the latest flood situation.
She is also monitoring the situation from time to time by meeting senior officials at the state secretariat.
Meanwhile, the state government worries about the heavy discharge of water from Bengal and Jharkhand that may increase risks. The Durgapur barrage in Bengal was scheduled to release about 65,000 cusecs of water on Sunday, with the authorities warning that the release may even go up to 90,000 cusecs.
