Rajnath approves use of chilli filled PAVA shells in the Valley
Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh has approved the use of chilli filled PAVA shells at Jammu and Kashmir. The decision comes a day before the all party delegation led by Singh is to visit J&K.
Chilli filled PAVA grenades to replace pellet guns in J&K but CRPF is not happy
After there was a hue and cry over the use of pellet guns the home ministry had formed a committee to study and suggest an alternative. The committee had suggested the use of the chilli filled PAVA shells.
The CRPF had however opposed the idea and told the home ministry not to leave their soldiers at the mercy of the protesters. The home ministry says that the pellet guns would only be used in the rarest of rare occasions.

The announcement by Singh is seen as a good will gesture ahead of the all party delegation visit. The people of Kashmir are upset with the use of pellet guns and the experts suggested that a ban on the same would calm the tempers in the Valley.
