Rajiv Rai Bhatnagar is new CRPF chief
Rajiv Rai Bhatnagar is the new chief of the CRPF. The post was lying vacant for the past two months following the retirement of Kode Durga Prasad. Following the Chhattisgarh attack the government had been criticised for not filling up the post. It was said that in the absence of a DG CRPF, key policy decisions could not be taken as a result of which planning suffered.
Rai Bhatnagar a 1983 batch IPS officer is from Uttar Pradesh. Two months back speculation was rife that he would get the posting since he was the only IPS officer from the 1983 batch who was not given DG rank post. Bhatnagar prior to his appointment as the CRPF chief was serving as a DG, Narcotics Control Bueau, an ADG rank which was temporarily upgraded to a special DG rank.
