New Delhi, Feb 24: With SC staying the order for releasing the 3 prime accused in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination, the Centre is likely to move the apex court to put a stay on the release of four others- Nalini, Robert Pious, Jayakumar and Ravichandran.

These men and women are serving life sentence with Perarivalan, Murugan and Santhan, whose death sentence was commuted after the SC slammed the long delay in deciding their petitions. Following this, the Jayalalitha government also ordered the release of the trio, which led to massive unrest across the country.

Congress too did not take this lightly."The PM of the country was killed. I am sad that the killers are being released," Rajiv Gandhi's son Rahul said. [Read]

The Supreme Court has ordered a stay on the trio's release citing procedural lapses on part of the TN government. It will hear the Centre's plea regarding the other four on Thursday.
